Emergency Medical Services
Training for Medical Emergencies
Every year hundreds of people from throughout the Northwoods receive training through Nicolet's Emergency Medical Services Department. From private citizens, senior citizens, new parents, local businesses and volunteer ambulance personnel to full time Paramedics, we teach them with the skills necessary to provide emergency care.
Classes taught through the EMS department include many varieties of CPR and First Aid, Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Technician, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and EMS Refresher trainings for all levels up to Paramedic.
Fall - Registration opens August 1, semester begins September 1
Spring - Registration opens December 1, semester begins January 1
Summer - Registration opens May 1, semester begins June 1
Students attending any continuing education classes (except contract courses) must be pre-registered. If a class has less than 10 students registered, it will be canceled three business days prior to the start date. If a student hasn't registered, they will not be listed on the roster, and will not be notified of the cancellation. Therefore, it is imperative that ALL students register and pay well in advance of any Fire, EMS, or Traffic Safety class.
Several classes now include online components that allow students to complete coursework when it is convenient for them, reducing the amount of time students spend traveling to and from the Nicolet campus.
Many classes meet state and employer certification requirements and prepare students to safely handle medical emergencies in the workplace. We also offer customized training to employers based on their individual needs.
Nicolet's EMS department also offers affordable, on-location trainings based on the American Heart Association's CPR, AED and First Aid courses.
All EMS programs meet the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services EMS guidelines and requirements.
