What’s Your Next Step?

Many adults with disabilities are thinking about their next steps toward living more independently in the community, pursuing employment opportunities, and shaping their quality of life. What’s your next step? Nicolet College’s innovative Jump! Start Program provides individualized goal setting, increased employability and independent living skills, work experience and work practicum options, access to college coursework, networking and social connections within the College community, and increased self-determination and self-advocacy skills.

Program Description

Jump! Start is an innovative approach to inclusive post-secondary education for adult learners with  intellectual disabilities. The program is based at Nicolet College in Rhinelander and is designed for students who require more than the traditional level of support in order to be successful in a college environment.  The program is a partnership among Nicolet College, the Northland Pines, Rhinelander, and Crandon School Districts, Headwaters, Inc., and the Human Service Center.

Application Process

To be considered for the Jump! Start program, individuals should be:

  • Transition students between the ages of 18 - 21 with an active IEP and deferred graduation  OR
  • Adults with a desire to be lifelong learners who wish to take academic courses for credit or audit
