Student readiness to enroll in core coursework is determined by meeting academic preparedness criteria. Two options are available for students to demonstrate academic preparedness for core coursework.
Option 1
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better
- Cut score of 75+ on HESI A2 Exam
- Successful completion of the following courses with a “C” or better:
- Successful completion* of the following courses:
- Nursing Assistant
- Chemistry (1 year high school or 1 semester college)
- General Anatomy & Physiology
Option 2
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better
- Successful completion of the following courses with a “C” or better:
- Nursing Assistant
- Chemistry (1 year high school or 1 semester college)
- General Anatomy & Physiology
- Advanced Anatomy & Physiology

A student’s eligibility and priority to enroll in core coursework are assessed after the June HESI exam, ensuring all students, regardless of which option they have selected, can be considered. Priority for enrollment is determined by residency status and application date, as specified by state statute (TCS 10.07). Eligibility is determined by the successful completion of academic preparedness requirements as outlined above.
The nursing declaration window is May 5 – May 16, 2025 for the Fall 2025 term. We will offer the HESI A2 exam in June of 2025 for a Fall 2025 core start. Questions can be directed to your success coach at 715.365.4493.
