Celebrate Community College Month with Nicolet College
In April, Nicolet College is encouraging current and former students, supporters, business partners and our community to join the nation-wide 2025 Community College Month—or #CCMonth—campaign to bring attention to the value and importance of the college to our community.
#CCMonth is a grassroots education and outreach campaign coordinated by the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) across the United States every April. The primary goals of #CCmonth are to improve awareness of the economic, academic, and employment advantages of attending community colleges.
A recent survey of high school students, adults, and employers in the Nicolet College district revealed a widespread appreciation for the college.
A majority of respondents believe the college fosters lifelong learning (87%), is accessible to everyone (85%), supports students with resources (85%), and prepares them for in-demand careers (84%).
“We are deeply appreciative of our communities’ support for us since the first classes started in 1967,” said Kate Ferrel, president of Nicolet College. “We’ve heard countless stories from our graduates, young and old, how one learner’s education can positively impact generations of families and help local economies thrive.”
Created to serve the needs of their communities and to make good on the promise of American meritocracy, community colleges provide access to affordable, high-quality higher education for all people. As an open institution, Nicolet College ensures anyone who wants to work hard and improve their lives through education has the opportunity to do so.
Through education, Nicolet College graduates transform their lives and give back to their local communities, demonstrating the benefits of a well-trained workforce to the entire community. For example, Nicolet College trains life-saving nurses, volunteer firefighters, and public safety workers. These workers are critical for healthy and safe communities for all.
The college also serves as an on-ramp to four-year colleges, preparing students as early as high school for bachelor’s programs or beyond by earning college credits that transfer seamlessly. These programs jumpstart college careers while saving students money and time.
Each year's #CCMonth campaign has made millions of impressions across social media platforms. This year, organizers are encouraging students and others to take the message to their favorite online social platforms to spread the word about the importance of community colleges in cultivating skills for the future and creating affordable learning opportunities.
