Nicolet Players
The Nicolet Players provides a non-profit educational community theatre, and helps to fulfill the mission of Nicolet College: "In service to the people of Northern Wisconsin, we deliver superior community college education that transforms lives and enriches communities." Our goals are to provide the highest quality productions possible, to educate, and to have fun.
Participation in play production is voluntary, and you do not have to enroll in any theatre course in order to be in a play, onstage or off. Auditions for plays are held 5-7 weeks before the play opens, and all rehearsals are held in the evenings. The time commitment varies, depending on the size of the role, but we usually rehearse for 2-3 hours 4-5 nights a week (that's for a lead role; smaller parts would only need to be there 1-3 nights a week). If you are interested in acting, you just have to show up at auditions and give it a shot; we keep it as low-pressure as possible, since many people who audition have not been in a play for a long time. There will be audition notices printed in the local papers, but the best way to be informed of upcoming events is to get on our mailing list, by calling the Box Office at 715-365-4646.
Acting on stage is not the only part of play production. In fact, for every actor on stage there are usually two people who work "behind the scenes" building scenery, painting, designing costumes, recording sound effects, operating the computerized lighting equipment, ushering... the list goes on. Helping with the backstage work is also voluntary, and no theatre experience is required (after all, the college is here to teach those skills).

If you are interested in theatre in any capacity, stop in and see the Theatre Manager.
His office is 116 Lakeside Center (by the doors leading to the patio) and his phone number is 715-365-4476. He'd be glad to sit down and explain the Nicolet Players group in much greater detail. Whether you want to star in a play, or just see one of the performances, it's a lot of fun!
