DECA Students Qualify for International Competition

Five students from Nicolet College’s DECA business and marketing club turned in impressive performances at a regional competition and qualified for the prestigious International Career Development Conference which, unfortunately, was cancelled recently due to COVID-19.

Students Megan Jones, Samantha Bullard, and Kaitlynn Gonzalez, all of Rhinelander, Bailey Ault, Tomahawk, and Cassandra Bruckner, Lac du Flambeau, all qualified for the international competition by turning in strong performances at the Midwest Case Study Competition in Delevan.

“They all did a fantastic job in their respective disciplines and even qualifying for the international competition is an impressive accomplishment,” said Dwight Webb, Nicolet success coach and DECA advisor. “I’m sure they all would have done a great job representing Nicolet but, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the international event had to be cancelled.”

The annual conference and competition attracts about 1,500 students from around the world.

Jones competed in the International Marketing competition, Bullard in Advertising Campaign and International Marketing, Gonzalez in Entrepreneurship Operations, Ault in Business Ethics, and Bruckner in Fashion Merchandising and Business Ethics.

At the regional competition Ault was also elected as vice president to the 2020-2021 Wisconsin Collegiate DECA State Officer Team.

“Collegiate DECA provides an unforgettable and life changing experience for members of the Nicolet College club,” Webb explained. “It allows business and entrepreneurial students the ability to network and travel, and enhance their college experience by applying what they are learning in class to real life business solutions.”
