Explore Automotive & Manufacturing Careers April 12
Anyone interested in learning about the training necessary for successful careers in the Automotive and Manufacturing fields is invited to attend a career exploration event from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, at Nicolet College.
“Both of these career sectors are experiencing a shortage of workers and, as such, people with these sought-after skills are in quite high demand,” said Dwight Webb, Nicolet Admissions representative.
The event for Manufacturing sector jobs will be held in the Birchwoods Center and Automotive will be in the Automotive Lab located on the lower floor of the White Pine Center. Interested individuals will be able to explore the facilities and
Nicolet’s Manufacturing program offers college credentials in five different areas, which include Electromechanical, Industrial Mechanical, Welding, Metal Fabrication, and Forestry Equipment.
The college’s Automotive program offers two one-year technical diplomas, which include Automotive Service Technician and Automotive Technician.
The college also offers these programs in the highly-flexible Competency-Based Education, or CBE, format.
Under this structure students complete a combination online instruction and hands-on lab work in a flexible open lab setting with instructors on site.
“Each program is also broken into a series of skill competencies,” Webb explained. “When students complete one competency, they then move on to the next, and so on until they earn their college credential. The curriculum is the same as in the old, traditional format, and is just as challenging, only now it’s in the flexible CBE format where students complete the work at times that are best for them.”
