Free Nicolet College engineering bootcamp helps learners explore futuristic careers

This summer, Nicolet College will launch a new, free Intro to Engineering Experiences Bootcamp for high school students and adults.

The bootcamp is free and will run June 10, 11, and 12 and June 17, 18, and 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Interested learners can sign up online

Learners in the six-day bootcamp will apply engineering principles through hands-on robotics and drone activities while building leadership, collaboration, and teamwork skills. They will also earn one free college credit by completing Nicolet College’s Introduction to Engineering course via the bootcamp.

“This bootcamp will open the door to exciting possibilities and help learners make decisions to launch into engineering and associated fields in drones and robotics,” said Gary Zarda, dean of university transfer and liberal arts.

Superior Diesel, a Rhinelander-based diesel engine and products company, donated the funds needed to run the bootcamp and to provide opportunities for learners interested in high-demand careers in engineering.

Engineering education in the Northwoods doesn’t stop at bootcamps.

Future engineers can start their studies at Nicolet College. Thanks to a partnership between Nicolet College and University of Wisconsin-Platteville, learners can complete an Associate of Science degree at Nicolet College and transfer seamlessly into a primarily online engineering Bachelor of Science program with junior status with UW-Platteville.

Partnerships like these between Nicolet College and four-year universities help learners achieve their career goals while saving money and building confidence alongside highly-credentialled college instructors close to home, which is especially beneficial for young learners or working adults.
