McNaughton inmates graduate from Maintenance Mechanic program
Wisconsin Department of Corrections Secretary Kevin Carr, second from left, congratulates Nicolet student James Wertman during a recent graduation ceremony at Nicolet College. The ceremony honored Wertman and four other inmates from the McNaughton Correctional Center who completed the college’s Maintenance Mechanic certificate program. Also onstage are, standing, Nicolet President Richard Nelson and Nicolet Executive Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs Kate Ferrel. In the background are, left, Jeff Labs, Nicolet dean of Trade, Industry, and Apprenticeships, and Howard Honig, Nicolet Maintenance Mechanic instructor.
“By getting an education, each of you has proven that you have the courage, strength, and determination to better your lives,” Carr said in his address to the graduates.
This is the third graduating class from McNaughton to complete an academic program at Nicolet.
