Nicolet College Selects 2023-24 Student Ambassadors
Nicolet College has presented its highest student honor to Kimberlee Soldier and Lena Symonds, naming each as a Student Ambassador for the 2023-24 academic year.
“As usual, we were incredibly fortunate to have such a strong group of candidates nominated to represent Nicolet College as a Student Ambassador,” said Angelo Guercio, Nicolet Enrollment Services specialist, who coordinated the Student Ambassador selection process.
“It was a difficult decision, but in the end, Kimberlee and Lena rose to the top and I’m sure both of them will do a great job representing Nicolet College.”
Students are first nominated for the honor by a Nicolet staff member and then selected for the position after going through an interview process.
Soldier, a Sokaogan Chippewa Community resident studying Business Management at Nicolet, will serve as the Nicolet District Student Ambassador and represent the college at Wisconsin Technical College System statewide events.
This includes representing Nicolet at the Wisconsin Technical College Ambassador Leadership Development Conference and Banquet in April in the Wisconsin Dells.
Soldier was nominated for the ambassador position by Nicolet English Instructor Elizabeth DeVore.
“Kim has been a leader and recruiter to bring Nicolet classes to the Mole Lake community. She does so much to help others pursue educational goals that benefit individuals, local businesses, and the community as a whole,” DeVore wrote in her nomination.
“She’s an experienced speaker and presenter, and advocates for the personhood, recovery, and future of those in recovery from addiction. She is also a professional in her field, and an overall cool and inspiring human being. We would be lucky to have Kim performing ambassador duties for the college.”
Lena Symonds will serve as the Nicolet College Foundation Student Ambassador, representing the Foundation at a variety of events throughout the year. The Tomahawk resident is in the Associate’s Degree Nursing program at Nicolet.
She was nominated by Nicolet Nursing Instructor Erica Neilitz.
“Lena demonstrates the characteristics of a quality leader and will be an excellent ambassador for Nicolet – she is thoughtful, compassionate, responsible, energetic, and committed,” Neilitz wrote in her nomination.
“She’s been an integral part of reviving the Nicolet College Nurse Club. While her official role is secretary, her natural leadership skills have her playing an integral role in all aspects of reviving the club.”
Congratulations to these students!
