Technical Diploma

The nursing assistant is a vital member of the health care team. The nursing assistant carries out assigned duties under the direction of the professional nurse. Responsibilities include bathing, dressing, toileting, assisting with feeding, taking vital signs, ambulating, lifting and moving clients, and performing other selected nursing procedures. The instructional program for the Nursing Assistant diploma consists of lecture with laboratory practice and supervised clinical experience in local health care facilities. This program is approved by the Wisconsin Department of Health as a nurse aide training program. The diploma is granted for successful completion of 118 hours of instruction.

    Additional Costs

    Students are required to pay tuition and the following other costs as applicable:

    1. Textbook and curriculum binder ($110)
    2. TB skin test ($15), Influenza vaccine ($45), MMR ($30)
    3. Caregiver criminal background check ($10)
    4. Upon successful completion of the course, students wanting to become Certified Nursing Assistants need to take the State certification exam (Approximately $120)
    5. Uniform tops will be provided to students free of charge

    Credit for Prior Learning

    Based on prior experience and skills, qualified Veteran medics and EMS workers may be able to test out of some classes. Contact the Dean of Health Occupations, at 715.365.4539 to learn about earning credit for what you already know.
