Virtual Keynote Address: "The Hollywood Indian" and Talking Circle

Nicolet College is honored to host Debra Morningstar, an acclaimed professional storyteller and fiber artist from the Oneida Nation, for a virtual keynote address titled "The Hollywood Indian." 

Debra Morningstar brings over 28 years of experience in presenting Native storytelling performances, keynotes, and workshops across the United States and Canada. In her keynote, Morningstar will examine the impact of stereotypical portrayals of Indigenous peoples in Hollywood films, and the harm these images continue to cause to Native communities. Her presentation will be followed by a Talking Circle, offering participants the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue about dismantling these dangerous narratives and replacing them with authentic Indigenous voices.
