National First-Generation College Student Day is Wednesday, November 8. You are invited to join us as we celebrate the success and presence of first-generation college students. National first-generation day is a call to celebrate students who are the first in their family to pursue an undergraduate degree in the United States.
November 8 marks the 57th anniversary of the signing of the 1965 Higher Education Act, which has helped millions of first-generation students persist to degree completion. The
First-Generation College Celebration brings attention to the accomplishments of a population representing one-third of all currently enrolled college students.
At the national level, the Council for Opportunity in Education and the Center for First-generation Student Success will co-host a virtual event featuring a panel. Each panelist will discuss the first-generation adult learner identity, share their unique experiences, and offer insight into tools and resources for first-generation students.
This event will broadcast twice, on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. ET or Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. ET. Registration is free and open to all. Click here to join the broadcast.
